Sushi, Anyone?

Being an avid sushi lover, I find it very hard to find good and authentic quality sushi here in the Charleston area. Last year I was introduced to Sushi Atlantic by a friend and have loved it ever since. The owners are an elderly Japanese couple who truly believe in the quality of what they produce as opposed to how much they can make from their food and because of this, their cuisine is always in tip top shape. I will love to write a review for this restaurant because the couple makes great food but do not get the recognition that they deserve. I know a few people have tried their food and I want others who do not know about this amazing place to find out through the zine. Let me know what y’all think. Thanks! Edna.

  1. Sounds good to me, but be sure to know going in what kind of review you want to write. You sound like you love the place, so complete objectivity is probably impossible--but that's OK if you're not worried about objectivity. I'm not.

  2. Yeah, I think "review" is the wrong word. You want to write a rave, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

See if you can get an interview with the owners...see if you can find some understanding as to why they moved to Charleston, why they picked the location they did, and how they are able to maintain their business (is it customer loyalty? just a great location? advertising?). You may end up with a more interesting piece than a simple "eat sushi here cuz it's good".

  3. I was actually going to suggest she interview the owners, but I thought that might be too obvious. Now that I think about it, the obvious route isn't always the wrong one to take. Hell, interviewing the owners might prove more interesting than a simple restaurant rave.
