Art Venues and Foreign Foods

The first article that I propose that I write is an informative and spotlight article focusing on the Art Venues in Charleston. Art venues are small galleries that most people are not aware of, and that local artists and people involved in art would do well to know about. The venues that I plan on focusing on are the McJunkin Gallery on Hale Street and The Purple Moon. I can increase the amount of venues I will focus on depending upon the length of the articles. I will write this article in an objective manner because I feel that artists would do well to know that the venues are there, and because the art life in Charleston is rather small and to critique the life that is hardly there would be to just undermine it. Local artists and those interested in getting their work seen will be the audience of my article.

The second article that I propose is a review of foreign restaurants around Charleston. I plan on reviewing mainly Eastern foods, i.e. Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Thai. This article will be a review and I plan on rating the restaurant based on four categories; server attentiveness, food taste, cleanliness, and menu. I will write to inform on the quality of the restaurants and which restaurants are the best. My audience will be those who are looking for things to do in Charleston.

  1. Both proposals will work well, but I suggest you focus on one item per article. For instance: if you go the restaurant route, try to review one restaurant per article. You won't be forced to write mini-reviews for each restaurant, giving you plenty of time to explain precisely what works (or doesn't) in each venue.

  2. Okay then I will review Pho Ving Long(Vietnamese) and McJunkin Gallery.

  3. Adam makes a good point. I think unless you want to compare/contrast two restaurants serving the same general cuisine (which might also be interesting), limiting your focus to one per article will help focus the piece better.
